WEA 2018 is glad to announce the following international plenary speakers:

J.J. Merelo Guervoz Ph.D. – Universidad de Granada, España

J. J. Merelo Guervoz was born in UbedaJaén, España on March 10, 1965. Almost the same day Einstein (14 de marzo) and the same day than Fernando el Católico, Sharon Stone, Chuck Norris (the almighty), José Antonio Labordeta, Osama Bin Laden and Bix Biederbecke (a jazz trumpetist) were born. This doesn’t mean he looks like any of them.

He got a bachelor degree on Physical Sciences of the Universidad de Granada in 1989 and a Ph.D. degree in 1994. Currently he is a Titular Professor of the Depto. de Arquitectura y tecnología de Computadores of the Universidad de Granada, and he teaches at the ETS de Ingeniería Informática.

He is an recognized expert on Evolutionary Computation, Artificial Intelligence, Software development, and Social Computing. A complete list of his research activities is found on his webpage:

Vladik Kreinovich Ph.D. – University of Texas at El Paso, USA

Vladik Kreinovich is Full Time Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of Texas at El Paso, USA. He has bachelor degree of the Leningrad University, St. Petersburg, Russia M.S. in Mathematics and B.S. in Computer Science, December 1974 (Diploma summa cum laude), and a Doctoral degree of the Institute of Mathematics, Siberian Branch, Soviet Academy of Sciences, Novosibirsk, Russia Ph.D. in Mathematics, May 1979.

He is actually joint/adjunct/associate/fellow Professor/Researcher on more that 10 different institutions (Leibniz University of Hannover, Hannover, Germany, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai, Thailand, Center for Computational Sciences and Advanced Distributed Simulation, Houston, TX, University of Ostrava, Ostrava, Czech Republic, etc.)

He has more than 1,300 research publications in books, journals, and peer-refereed conference proceedings; this number includes more than 500 publications with student co-authors.

His main research interests include interval computations, fuzzy sets, intelligent control (including fuzzy and neural approaches), reasoning under uncertainty.

He is part of the Board of Directors of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society (NAFIPS), IEEE Senior Member, IFSA Fellow member, and serves as Program Committee member of several top conferences such as the IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI), The IEEE Fuzzy Systems Conference (FUZZ-IEEE), the Annual Meeting of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society (NAFIPS), the International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA) conference, etc.


Dr. Roberto S. Murphy Arteaga – INAOE, Mexico

Roberto Stack Murphy Arteaga is Full Time Researcher at the Instituto Nacional de Astofísica, Optica y Electrónica de México. He obtained an engineering degree at the St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minnesota, 1982, and got Master and Ph.D. degrees in Sciences of the INAOE, Mexico in 1988 and 1997.

His main research interests include seminconductors analysis, modelling and design, passive devices and antennas for high-frequency applications.

Carlos J. Cabrera is Doctor of Philosophy, Electrical and Computer Engineering from FIU College of Computer Science, Master of Science inTelecommunications & Networks from FIU College of Engineering and he has a Bachelor of Science on Electrical Engineering from FIU.

His main research interests includeComputer Networks, Computer Applications, Advance Electronics, Electronic Communication. Also he works on accreditation for high level institutions, ABET system and related topics.
